I got in contact with my local USCIS office and VFS to ask if they had any update of when they planned on reopening. Neither one gave any useful information.
This was the response I got from VFS:
"Thank you for writing to us.
We understand that you are waiting for the visa services to resume in USA.
As of now, we have not received any update on reopening of centers. As soon as any update is received, the same will be published on the website.
Hence, we request you to kindly check our official website periodically and write back to us once the Visa Centre has re-opened, and we would be happy to assist you further with regards to your concern.
For more detailed information, please check the country-specific page on
www.vfsglobal.com [nofollow] (to access this, please enter the country you’re applying from and the country you’re going to, in the fields provided). All visa-related information pertaining to specific countries will be published here."
And USCIS just gave an automated response of, "USCIS will resume in-person processing of biometrics at Application Support Centers at a later date" - with no date given.
I'm in the same boat.
