Tax refund or something else?
« on: August 12, 2020, 08:55:13 PM »
I just got some money in my stateside account that is close to what I should have gotten back on my tax refund. But....there was also a chance people might be getting the new stimulus money......From the bank info, can you tell where it came from?

Deposit IRS TREAS 310 / TYPE: TAX REF CO: IRS TREAS 310 %% ACH ECC PPD

Thanks. Seems stimulus related then. Starting to give up hope on the $1000+ tax money I should be getting back...over 5 months since it was signed for.

No. It says filed tax return.  Read it again.

I agree, it is his tax refund. My bank statement has the same wording for my refund.

Don’t spend it all at once. :)

I've been tempted to sell my treadmill and get a stupidly expensive Arc Trainer.....the $10 extra, or even the $1000 is a drop in the bucket.

The only stimulus checks that went out were back in April; congress is still arguing daily about unemployment extensions and stimulus checks (well, discounting Trump trying to force an override by fiat over the weekend).

So, yeah, tax refund.

I just received an additional $3.17 from the IRS. Apparently they are going back and giving interest on refunds dated from April 16th. I got my refund on April 29th but since you only just got your refund they have obviously added on the interest due to you from late processing.

I'm just glad they did it. That long of a wait made me uncomfortable. You mailed yours in? and got it back that quick?

I e-filed mine with TurboTax in April, and it took about 2 weeks to get the refund. Given that expats normally have a June 15 deadline I’m amazed that they gave me an interest payment caused by their delays due to Covid. I guess they didn’t bother checking among the millions of returns which ones had overseas addresses.
