PPE best buys.
« on: July 10, 2020, 08:50:19 AM »
Please share your best PPE finds here.  :)

I bought some Flatshields (in preparation for whenever I'll be able to go out again) and really like them. They are unobtrusive but I feel quite  protected wearing one on top of a mask.

https://flatshield.co.uk

Just a note that they are vague about the shipping charge and you don't see what it is going to be until you get into the purchase, I don't like the additional transaction fee they charge and depending on the quantity you buy, it is more expensive to use PayPal than a credit or debit card. The product is great though!

I just ordered 5l of 80% alcohol hand sanitiser from here-

A really interesting, prepper type website and great reviews on Trustpilot.  :)

I like the look of this face shield/safely glasses hybrid. It's still on Kickstarter but the campaign has reached their funding target and is just about over.

That looks cool, but possibly heavy on the ears! Not touching your face has been the hardest habit to break in this pandemic. I've also seen some reports that the people wearing only face shields may be at higher risk of catching it because it gives them a false sense of security and they forget about social distancing.

It's also quite small, so for me I was thinking perhaps for use more into the future when the threat is less (although still worn with a mask). And if it doesn't work for me as Covid-wear, it looks like it would be good for tree pruning/DIY!  ;D

I've ordered a basic face shield from etsy to try and make something like this: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/816005079/face-shield-mask-full-face-mask-hooded?ref=shop_home_feat_3 (but less fancy because sewing is not my strong suit)

Since they know covid is airborne and spread by aerosol as well as droplets (just more in droplets) I will feel safer shopping with a shield on over the mask. The shop I ordered from shipped immediately, and was more affordable than similar ones found on amazon. I'll let you know how it is! https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/829596839/face-shield-visor-with-soft-foam-for?ref=yr_purchases

And its not PPE, but over lockdown we've fallen in love with Pipers Crisps. They deliver straight from their website for much cheaper than amazon or in the shops. Best plain crisps I've had here, and I've loved every flavour I've tried. https://www.piperscrisps.com/shop
