Recipe was in the Guardian a few weeks back.
After dipping the apples, we mixed in some bicarbonate to make honey comb

Yum!! The honeycomb sounds fun too, I've never tried making it.

Thanks everyone!
They tasted better than expected, I thought the toffee would simply fall off when you took a bite.  It all stayed together though and the mix of apple and sugar was great. 
You certainly can't eat one at a time, we cut them up and ate quarters.
