Scanning Questions
« on: June 03, 2021, 10:57:44 PM »
Hi Guys,

So I submitted my application last week and my biometric appointment is on the 9th of June.

I am now in the process of scanning my documents and uploading it to the UK Visa website.  It’s proven to be so tedious especially as I have a very basic scanner.

For the documents that I have multiple pages, I am using cam scanner on my phone.  It seems to be ok, and I am compressing the files so it’s less than 6MB per file.  Would this be ok to use ?

Also, as I have so many documents, including bank statements and cohabitation letters I’ve uploaded so many files.  I did put a description on all of them.

Is correct that I should upload most of my proof documents on the ‘OTHER’ section ( I.e. payslips, marriage certificate, tenancy agreement, bank statements ) ???  I just don’t want to make any mistakes.  Will this be also the place I will upload my cover letter ????

Now I wish I had paid for the scanning service.

Lastly, is it worth it to pay for the document checking service ?  To make sure I uploaded the documents correctly ?  I mean I am not a ding bat, but these things makes me nervous.

Yes, that’s fine.

The files just need to meet the requirements listed in the FAQ:

The filenames should be written as laid out in the FAQ:

No, your documents go in the following sections:

Application Documents:
- your passport
- consent to checks forms
- sponsor’s declaration

Proof of Identity/Travel History:
- husband’s passport
- your BRP

Finances:
- all your financial documents

Residence in the U.K.
- accommodation documents
- cohabitation documents

Other:
- marriage certificate
- any divorce decrees
- childrens’ documents (birth certificates, passports, letter(s) confirming address)

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it, but it’s up to you. If you pay for it you must make sure you upload and submit everything at least 2 working days before your appointment.

Thank you!

I would have to re upload the items on the right category.

I just realized I was missing a page in one of my April 2021 bank statements, so I had to print them and got the bank to certify them yesterday.  I know that everything needed to be stamped before the online submission, but I’ve got no choice.  So I just indicated that in my letter.  I hope it’s ok.

As long as the bank statement period you are relying on to meet the financial requirement ends before your online application date, it should be fine.
