Hi guys, I should have mentioned this weeks ago when I first discovered it but... life gets in the way!
There's a shop called American Grocer, who have a Facebook page. They sell the usual American stuff for the usual ridiculous prices, and they also seem to have quite a lot of stuff I've never seen or heard of before, so maybe better than some of the other American expat shops.
But they also have a pretty huge clearance section, where they're selling out of date/short date stuff for ridiculously cheap. Out of date stuff doesn't bother me at all, so I've been buying shed-loads of stuff (mainly junk food, if I'm honest!) for buttons, basically.
Examples of stuff I've been buying....
Bottles of Diet Snapple for 50p
Boxes of Betty Crocker Super Moist cake mixes for £1.99
Bags of peanut butter cookie mix and oatmeal cookie mix £1.00
Boxes of Triscuits in all different flavours for £1
Jiffy baking mix (like Bisquick)... big box for £1.99
Wrigleys Extra bubble gum 50p
Ice Breakers sugar free mints in all different flavours 50p
Sugar free liquid Coffee Mate in French Vanilla £3.99
Big bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing £3.99 ... they also had some Ortega 'taco ranch' sauce/dressing for £1.99.... tried this for the first time and it's really nice
Bag of Chex Mix £1.99
Tub of Pillsbury sugar free cake icing £1.99
Pepperidge Farm cookies £1
Betty Crocker cornbread mix £1.99
If out of date stuff doesn't bother you, there are some huge bargains to be found
