FLR (M) Questions on Shared Finances and Reasons to Remain
« on: July 28, 2021, 09:52:46 PM »
Hi! I’m almost done with my application for my FLR (M) extension, and I keep struggling about the question on shared finances. I'm sure I keep overthinking it, but would like a second opinion to ensure I'm answering the question without giving too many details.

(Do you and your partner have any shared financial responsibilities? (Required)
For example, council tax, utility bills, mortgage or rent, childcare costs, loan payments

Please list your shared financial responsibilities and how much you each pay each month

We’re a pretty straightforward case. Would putting the below be adequate? Or is it listing way too many details which will overcomplicate the matter?

Rent (£X) - Sent from joint account, David contributes £X, Julia contributes £X
Council Tax(£X) and Utility Bills (fluctuates monthly)  - Both of our names are on the accounts, but David pays for these
Childcare Cost- None currently as Julia is on summer holiday, Starting September 2021 this will be £X month from our joint account, Julia paying £X, David paying £X
Other Miscellaneous monthly costs (fuel, groceries, etc)- Split evenly and paid from joint account

Welcome!

There are so many ways this question could be answered. Yours is on the detailed side but I think it's fine as is.

FLR (M) Question on Shared Finances

It doesn’t really matter how you answer this as it has no bearing on your application, and it makes no difference whether you have shared financial responsibilities or not.

You don’t need to go into much detail... all you really need to put is something like:

Rent £X/month
Council tax and utility bills average of £Y/month
Childcare average of £Z/month

Thank you!
I've changed it to be more streamlined and say:

Rent: David pays £X, Julia pays £X, Childcare (upcoming): Julia to pay £X, David to pay £X,  Council Tax: (under both names) £X, Utilities: (under both names) £X

I did want a second opinion on the following answers I put regarding reasons to stay in the uk/that relocation would be difficult:
1-
Are there any factors which would make it difficult or impossible for you to integrate and establish a private life in that country?
Yes
Please explain fully
My husband is a British citizen and doesn't currently have the right to live in the United States. Both of our jobs are located in England, and financially it would be difficult to relocate.
(as of now I'm not planning on including anything for optional evidence here)

2-
Would your children be affected if your application was refused?
Yes
Please provide details
If my application was refused, our family would need to relocate (or I would need to live separately until I could reapply). This would affect my child's emotional wellbeing. It is in my child's best interest for us to remain together in the UK.

3-
Would any of your other family members be affected if your application was refused?
Yes
Please provide details
My husband- If my application was refused, we would need to uproot and relocate.ChangeOther information about your family members

4-
Do you have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK? (For example, include any information you wish to be considered about the welfare or best interests of any children you have in the UK. You must demonstrate you have a genuine, subsisting and active parental relationship.)
I have other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK
Explain your other reasons and say what documents you will provide to support your claim
My 9 month old child is a UK citizen and relies on me. It is in his best interest for us to stay in the UK together as a family. Documents: GP and bank letters showing Shimon lives with us

Thank you!
