Viisas & Citizenship/Re Working on ILR Application
« on: August 20, 2021, 03:35:07 PM »
It's me again -making progress but still doubting myself, this time about spacing of proof of cohabitation and National Insurance number. Husband's FLR was issued on 14th June 2019 and I would like confirmation of the following timescale for proof of cohabitation

June 2019
November 2019
July 2020
December 2020
May 2021
August/September 2021 depending on when I actually submit online

Second Question - ILR form asks for applicants National Insurance Number - he wouldn't have one until he becomes a citizen would he?

Once again, thank you in advance for assisting me with this process.

November 2019 to July 2020 is very very long.  Do you have something for the middle of that?

You don't need to be a citizen to have a National Insurance number.  In fact, the NINo is all but required in order to get a job.  But he doesn't have to have a NINo for the visa.  If he doesn't have one, he doesn't have one.

9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

I believe the ILR application actually asks for 2.5 years of cohabitation documents even if you are applying less than 2.5 years after getting FLR, so you’ll likely need documents from:
February 2019
July 2019
December 2019
May 2020
October 2020
March 2021
August 2021

No, he’s been eligible to apply for a National Insurance number since he arrived in the U.K. 5 years ago, as he needs an NI number in order to pay the correct taxes and NI contributions if he is working.

So if he has worked in the UK at all in the last 5 years he should already have applied for and been issued an NI number as employers require it for their payroll/tax calculations (otherwise he will be paying the wrong amount of tax).

If he has not worked in the U.K. and/or applied for an NI number and therefore doesn’t have one, you just leave that part blank on the form.

Many thanks to jfkimberly and jsand24.

We are almost ready to send the Application but would like to clarify when we choose either standard or super priority and select the BRM appointment.  Do the options come after paying for the Visa itself or have I missed this part.
We have only seen the Declaration from Sponsor is there not something from the Applicant or is it a personal letter from Applicant.....
Sorry for my confused questions but I seem to be a little confused about everything just now.  Thanks in advance

You choose either standard or super priority (if it is offered) at the end of the online application when you get to the payment.

However, you do not select the biometrics appointment at that time... instead, you book biometrics on the UKVCAS website after you have submitted and paid for the visa.

The order is:
- submit online application
- select standard/super priority and pay for the visa
- wait for an email with a registration code for the UKVCAS website
- register an account on the UKVCAS website
- book biometrics on the UKVCAS website
- upload your documents on the UKVCAS website before your appointment
- attend biometrics
- wait for visa to be processed

There’s no separate applicant declaration and no applicant letter is needed.

All you do is:
- the Sponsor signs the Sponsor Declaration
- the applicant signs Part 1 Consent to Checks form (if it is shown as part of the form)
- the sponsor signs Part 2 Consent to Checks form (if it is shown as part of the form)
