Thanks to all here for your help! Just wanted to update that I passed today!!  :D

I had a minor panic yesterday when I realised that the books I’d been working with weren’t the official ones from the home office (I’d ordered them from Waterstones), but nevertheless they were very good and I passed.

And, I did finally memorise Henry VIII’s wives and their ends but was so disappointed not to have one question on it!!

I have a real problem remembering dates, so I found it helpful to treat the whole set of dates as times on a 24 hour clock and relate stuff to my day.  The Magna carts was at lunch (1215)

Ooh brilliant - I've passed this on to my wife who has hers soon! I'm picturing a drawing of a big clock now with events logged round it :))

The cool bit is that it's not the whole clock, just the day.  All that old stuff (can you tell I've forgotten everything? ) happened around breakfast, and 2000 is eight o'clock.     Women got the right to vote just after the Archers is finished on Radio 4.   Then more voting stuff happened after the 7:30 news, as did Ireland something or other.  I used to know all this stuff.

Ha - it's a very good idea. And yes I realised a clock face would not work for 24 hours anyway!

Beth has her test tomorrow morning and has been passing all the practice tests, so we're hoping she'll pass. I am relieved that having been consistently failing the practice tests despite living here since birth, I am now consistently passing - phew!

Fun fact, of the 15 National Parks (yes there are 15 national parks for anyone about to take the test), I discovered the newest is the South Downs National Park which surrounds us where we live and is celebrating its 10 year anniversary of becoming a National Park. In a random kind of way, some of the handbook is quite (UK rather than US 'quite' here) interesting.

Good luck to her for tomorrow, I’m sure she’ll smash it! What better (and more British) way to celebrate than with a good long walk in your beautiful local national park, too!

I do love all the useless random factoids now living rent free in my head about this place, and wonder if there’s some quiz show I can exploit this sure to be short term knowledge?!
