Arrival in UK - Passport Control with BRP or US Passport

Good Evening All,

Apologies if this has been posted before, but a quick search pulled up nothing. We are traveling back to the US for the holidays and upon return I was wondering if we are able to use our BRPs to go through the UK side of passport control at Heathrow or if we will have to go through the non-UK passports side with our US passports? Trying to avoid the typically longer line if at all possible as will be traveling with a drowsy 7 year old and likely cranky 10 month old.

Anyone have any experience with this?

As you are US citizens, you will be allowed to enter through the UK/EEA e-gates.

You must carry both your US passports AND your BRPs with you in order to enter the UK:
- your US passports show you are US citizens
- your BRPs show that you have valid visas to live in the UK
