Transfer of Residency relief for stuff you bring on the plane
« on: December 03, 2021, 02:28:02 AM »
I've some high value items (basically a very expensive laptop and phone) that I don't want to be without or trust to sea-bound shipping container. I plan to take them as hand luggage on the plane.

How does ToR relief work here? Can I include it on the same ToR1 application as the shipping container and wave that at customs if I get stopped?

No one will care.  Promise. Everyone has their tech in their bag, moving or not.  Just don’t carry it through in a brand new box.  ;D

I even managed to bring a new laptop in my checked bags (and my old one in my carry-on) in 2012.  I needed a new laptop and ended up picking one up from the shop on my way to the airport. But I still needed my old one to transfer files from.  I'm pretty sure my suitcase was checked, and I didn't unpack the computer at all.  I do realize how lucky I was.
