TWO JOB OFFERS!! What Should I do ? ...Please Advice ASAP you guys :)))

Hi again you guys:)

I've been loosing sleep over this one for the past couple days..

Ok, well...ive been temping 4 months at this one job (i am a fashion designer/pattern cutter) and just got offered the postion on a permanant basis. Needless to say i was " way thrilled " to have finally landed a secure job. The pay is quite " decent " and having worked there for several months i was adjusting well to the work load and the people i was working with. I have submitted their tons of paper work and officially accepted their offer yesterday

As luck would have it, just today, this other temping agency whom i havnt heard anything from in 3 months, calls to say they have a senior full time positioin in my field , paying £5K more per annum than my current job offer. Ofcourse just because a recruiter called to say they have a job prospect for me, doesnt mean i have landed the job...but for arguments sake, lets pretend they absolutley want me...what do i do ?

Ok, other things i havn't mentioned is that second job offer is located much closer to where i live, it is a more tech savvy and uses advanced garment productioin techniques which might mean that i can upgrade my skills..and could also be more challenging than my current job enviroment.

I have never been faced with this situation before, i hope you guys can shed some light on this. Ofcourse i have adjusted well at my current job, while the second job has not been" tried and tested " so more riskier in terms of "job enviroment, co-workers" etc. etc.
Any advice greatly appreciated...for the record, i have already accepted the job offer on the first job ( if i didnt mention it earlier)

As you have accepted a job offer, the only course of action is to do that job for a decent length of time.  I don't know what that length of time should be.  Probably varies by profession.  For your job, suggest it should be until you have successfully completed some project such as launching a new product line, something like that.

Instead of lamenting the additional £5,000 you might have earned, why not make it your goal to increase the profitability of the company where you already work so that your salary there will rise by at least £5,000?

Well, if it were me, I'd go to the interview for the second position based on the higher salary, its location, and the chance to gain new skills.  If you don't get it, well, you still have a job!  And if you do, I think explaining the benefits of the new job is a perfectly acceptable thing.  Who knows -- maybe your current job will give you a counter offer?!

(Of course, this is coming from someone who doesn't hold much loyalty toward her current job!)

Im with Lola here. Accept the job youre at currently and wait for an interview with the other one. Its never nice to leave a job youve just started for another job but you have to look out for number one. If you think the second job (upon offer) is going to get you where you want to go - take it. £5k is a great rise in pay.

just remember this.... A bird in the hand is worth two in a bush...

the way i see it... if you like where your at why leave? ok maybe you may make more cash at job number two and the tech is better and all that but what if the people there turn out to be real jerks??? isn't it better to stay where you feel more at home instead of risking that? i don't know about you but to me a good working environment is better than cash at times... how many of us have worked jobs with people we didn't like? how many  of us have had a hard time getting out of bed to go to work not so much because of the job but because you hate the thought of facing a person or the people you work with

I know...decisions decisions..i agree to both pro & con sides....i know i will have to bite my teeth and figure this out on my own.

If job #2 ends up being offerd to me ( we will find out tommorow ) then the least i might do is go for the interview and hopefully be able to check out the "enviroment".

5K is a huge chunk of change for us right now... but yea, less co-worker drama is more important to me.

YIkes, i had this same thing happen to me.  I hadn't *formally* accepted the first position though.......

and i did look out for number one, took a chance and took the much higher paying and more challenging job on a contract basis and am now permanent.

I couldn't be happier.  Do what's best for you, but take a look at those papers you just signed for the job you're at.  You may have to give them a certain amount of leave (like me it's 4 weeks notice)

Yea they require a one week notice before quitting....i think i will go to the second jobs interview and take it from there...at this point i have nothing to loose by checking out whats on offer and work enviroment at job # 2.
