Passport Renewal Question
« on: March 08, 2022, 07:47:34 PM »
Hi all :) My American wife (here on her second FLR visa) will need to renew her US passport soon, we understand from the US embassy website how she goes about the renewal. The question we have is, do we need to update the Home Office on this once she receives her new US passport? Also, we understand, as she has not changed her name, her BRP won''t need to be changed?

She won’t need a new BRP, but you do need to notify UKVI of her new passport number so that they can link it to the BRP.

See here for how to do that:
https://www.gov.uk/change-circumstances-visa-brp

It’ll be the change of circumstances form. You may be able to do it online where it says to do a change of address. If not, you’ll need to fill out the linked MCC form.

Thanks very much! :) We will update UKVI as soon as she gets her new passport. She has over 7 months left on it but we will apply in the next couple of weeks- the US embassy website says turnaround time is three weeks but I have heard it is taking them longer.
