Residence Permit due to expire in July 2022

Hi, my husband has ILR and his Residence Permit card expires this July.
I'm not clear on the renewal process and would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction?

You'll need to use the Replacement BRP Service to renew the card:

The new BRP will only be valid until 31st December 2024 though (instead of 10 years), as the BRP card technology is being updated on 1st January 2025 and so everyone who holds a BRP card will need to apply for a new style card in late 2024.

Alternatively, you can apply for UK citizenship at any time, and your UK passport will then replace the ILR BRP (which will be destroyed), so you won't need to renew it again.

We've just come to the Convictions and other penalties section... hate this bit.
Husband listed the following in the original spouse and ILR applications in the Conviction & Caution section

#1. OCTOBER 2003, USA, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 250 DOLLAR FINE.
#2. NOVEMBER 2003, USA, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 750 DOLLAR FINE.
#3. MARCH 2009, USA, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL. 250 DOLLAR FINE.
#4. MARCH 2009, USA, SPEEDING, 90 DOLLAR FINE

and just wondering what their equivilant would be here on the BRP renewal as they need to be itmesed into these headings. I believe he went to court for all of them.

A criminal conviction
A penalty for a driving offence, for example disqualification for speeding or no motor insurance (expect #4 would be listed here)
An arrest or charge for which you are currently on, or awaiting trial
A caution, warning, reprimand or other out-of-court penalty
A civil court judgment against you, for example for non payment of debt, bankruptcy proceedings or anti-social behaviour
A civil penalty issued under UK immigration law

Not sure if the other 3 would be considered criminal conviction or ccj antisocial behaviour?
The Criminal conviction category asks about length of sentence but they were all just fines.

I'm inclined to think they should go under the criminal conviction heading but this is something that definitely warrants a full written explanation which you could do in a letter to accompany the application.

Ok thank you for this, I think you are right. I was just reading the citizenship application guidance and it said fines are considered criminal convictions...

Do you think there would there be time to apply for citizenship now before brp expiry this July?

Hi, I've seen on the gov site that the citizenship application can take up to 6 months to be determined.
Since there is only 3 and a half months left on the brp had we better renew this first to make sure it doesn't expire during the citizenship process?
