I am finally getting around to applying for UK Citizenship and have just a few quick questions.
1. My Issue date on my BRP is 19 January 2019 - so I am ok to apply as it has been over three years?
Assuming this is a BRP for ILR, you have been eligible to apply for UK citizenship since January 19th 2019, so you did not have to wait to apply at all.
If you had applied in 2019, you would have just needed to show that you were physically in the UK exactly 3 years prior to your citizenship application date (using your passport), and that you had not been outside the UK for more than 270 days between 2016 and 2019, with no more than 90 days in the final year before applying (i.e. 2018-2019) (by listing the dates you were outside the UK in those 3 years).
2. For payslips - how are back do they need to go January 2019 or August 2019 since I am applying at the end of the month.
You don't need to provide any payslips at all.
- If you are employed and pay tax using PAYE, they will just check your tax code to make sure you have been paying taxes via PAYE.
- If you are self-employed, you need to provide your tax returns to show you have been paying your taxes, as they can't check it via PAYE.
3. Do I need a letter from my employers.
No, employer letters are not needed.
Usually the only documents you need for UK citizenship are:
- current passport
- BRP card
- UK spouse's passport
- marriage certificate
- Life in the UK test certificate (or reference number, depending on when you took the test, and which you have)
- 2 references
- If self-employed, your tax return(s) as requested on the form
