U.S. brokerage firm that manages IRA accounts for expats
« on: October 14, 2022, 12:38:10 PM »
I've lived in the UK for 7 years and have just been informed by Merrill Lynch that they can no longer service my IRAs if I'm not a U.S. resident.   They said I need to move the accounts to a firm that allows that.

Anyone know of any?

Don't know if I can transfer my existing IRAs to a new brokerage or what.

I have an IRA with Charles Schwab.
Although most admin is done via their International Teams in the US, I suggest contacting the London office
(phone 020 3795 2704)

My wife and I moved all our accounts to Vanguard before we moved over and they have been very easy to deal with from England, including acceptance of a UK mobile number for occasional security codes when logging in. I’m sure there are others like Schwab and Vanguard which support overseas customers.
Dual USC/UKC living in the UK since May 2016

Interactive Brokers is another option - they have zero issues with my UK address for my Roth IRA.
