ILR Approved!!!
« on: November 11, 2022, 03:50:59 PM »
So happy to report that I just got my ILR approval email!!! I was on Super Priority and have to say the turnaround was super fast as my biometric appointment was only at 10:00 am today.

I want to thank all the amazing moderators for absolutely perfect advice at every stage, and fellow applicants for sharing their questions and outcomes. I wish everyone a speedy and successful approval.

Will look at Citizenship next. :)

Thanks for the good wishes!

Here's an update:
Approval received on Nov 11 and BRP delivered today Nov 17. Given the approval came late on a Friday, to get the BRP four business days after approval seems pretty good!

Note: I was surprised to see that my BRP expires on Dec 31, 2024. Then I read the notes on the letter which said this is not an error. They say that the Home Office is developing a 'digital by default' system and they plan to phase out all digital documents by the end of 2024. They say UKVI will update their information on the future of BRPs in early 2024. Hmmm - well all we can do is wait and see!

Meanwhile, all the best to fellow forum members!

Great news :). Four working days for the BRP is fairly standard :).

That's correct. All ILR visa BRP cards expire on 31st December 2024 (and other BRPs where the visa is due to expire after Dec 2024)... this has been the case for a couple of years now.

Originally the reason for it was because the EU is introducing new-style BRP cards on 1st Jan 2025, so all UK BRP cards would have needed to be reissued in the new format in late 2024.

However, since Brexit has now happened and we are not part of the EU anymore, UKVI announced in May 2022 that instead of issuing new BRP cards, they will be getting rid of BRP cards completely after 31st Dec 2024, and instead everyone will be able to check their immigration status online.
