Biometric appointment
« on: November 29, 2022, 11:45:31 AM »
Hi all, hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving whichever side of the pond you are on.

I have just now submitted my citizenship app and have a couple of questions, if you please. I am finding out why there is some trepidation about encountering Sopra Steria. Is it is difficult to upload the documents yourself? I have read of some users having difficulty with a large number of pages but that info may be outdated
.
If you had to do it again would you just pay to let them do it?

Hi there,

If you struggle with tech have the Biometrics people do it.  If you are reasonable with tech it's not hard but does take quite a long time.
For our first Spouse Visa we spent 2-3 weeks collating docs as the whole process was new to us and we were figuring it all out.
The final visa took about a day to scan and upload -  by then, after nearly 6 years of doing this over 4 applications, Spouse, FLR(M), ILR and Citizenship, we had all the docs prepared in advance.

My recommendations:
1) Get all your docs ready and sorted first.
2) Use a half decent scanner not a phone scanning app.
3) 150-300dpi in black and white is recommended.
4) Collate each set of docs into a PDF file
5) 6MB is the max per file so if a set of docs exceeds that like Bank Statements or Correspondence chop it into a Part 1 and Part 2.

Good luck

p.s. also vaguely relevant:  Do your Life in the UK test as early as possible, it is a complete faff but lasts forever.  It's a good thing to get out of the way.

Thanks for the reply. I can do it myself but as I get older if it's a lot of bother I'm tempted to just pay someone that has done it loads of times to do it.

Passed the life in the UK test a couple of weeks ago. That was interesting. At least I should do better at quiz nights now as no one I know has done well with the questions I tried out on them.
