I'm almost ready to apply but am still waiting for the bank statement to arrive.  In the meantime, a couple other questions:

1. In the documents list produced within the online application, they aren't asking for a copy of our property deed (nor mortgage, which we have paid off). I provided this for the first visa. The only thing they are asking for about the housing itself is latest council tax bill in both our names (although they did ask about the number of rooms and whether anyone lived with us). I will have the deeds etc if needed, but wondered if you had seen this before?

2. At what point in the process will I make the biometrics appointment (and ask them/pay for them to scan the documents)?

Thanks so much.

The documents list given in the online application is vague and does not include everything that is needed.

For the accommodation evidence, you need:
- Land Registry document (to show homeownership)
- Latest mortgage statement, if you have a mortgage (to show monthly housing costs)
- Latest council tax bill (to show monthly housing costs)

This is all done on the UKVCAS website after you have submitted and paid for the visa (and Super Priority if you are using it).

The process is:
- complete application
- submit application and pay for visa (and Super Priority if using)
- wait for email with registration code for UKVCAS website
- register on UKVCAS and book biometrics appointment… at which point you will be able to add extra services, like document checking and scanning (or if you go to an Enhanced centre, this will be included)
- attend biometrics
- wait for email with visa decision

Thank you so much, ksand24! I think I'm ready to go, but haven't received my bank statement (it's supposed to be here already -- I have a call into the bank). Question: should I delay making the application until I receive that latest statement, or can I go ahead and apply? (I'm getting nervous because the visa expires a week from Friday). Thanks so much.

My bank statement came today so I'm ready to complete the online application and try to snag a super premium slot. Has anyone confirmed that they now release them at midnight, rather than 1AM?  Thanks!

Submitted, and amazingly, there were Super Priority slots available at 10:30 AM (I had to do the super priority route and pay the extra £800 because of some business travel I have to do in late January/early February -- and I couldn't take a chance it wouldn't be done by then).  I was also able to book a biometrics appointment in Edinburgh for about two weeks from now. So, I have even more to be thankful for on this American Thanksgiving Day.

And a special thanks to  ksand24 and larrabee for your great help (and virtual hand-holding!) during the application process. Now, figures crossed, and I'll let you know once I get a decision.

Hello everyone,

I submitted my application online last week, and have an appointment for the biometrics next Thursday.  I paid to have them scan and upload the documents, which I have in hand and all are before the date of my application. I have a few final questions, which I would be grateful to hear your wisdom about:

1.   Below is  the list of documents I will have them scan and upload. Is this list OK, or do I need to add anything else?

2.   Stupid question: will they take my photo as part of the biometrics, or do I need to bring a photo (and if so, how many and what size?)

3.   Do I have to bring all my past USA passports, or just the current one?

4.   Are my spouse’s previous UK passports required, or just the current one?

5.   I paid for “super priority” – when should I hear from the Home Office (and how? Email or text?)

6.   My current biometric residence permit expires today. Since I applied for a further leave to remain last week, before the deadline, I understand that I’m still in the UK legally and don’t need to worry. Is that correct?

Thanks so much. You have been a godsend!

Looks good to me - just don't forget to include your BRP card as well as your US passport.

You don't need to bring a photo, as it's all done digitally - they will take a digital photo of you and scan your fingerprints, then use that photo for the visa.

You bring the current one and any others you have held since moving to the UK (i.e. if you have renewed your passport since you arrived).

4.   Are my spouse’s previous UK passports required, or just the current one?

Just the current one.

5.   I paid for “super priority” – when should I hear from the Home Office (and how? Email or text?)

You will get an email.

The decision should be made and email sent by the end of the next working day (i.e. by next Friday evening). Some people have received their email within 4-5 hours of the appointment, others have waited up to a couple of days recently.

That's correct, as long as your online application was submitted before your BRP expired, your immigration status will be automatically extended under Section 3C Leave... you will continue to be able to live and work in the UK until your new visa is issued.

Success! I just received an email from the Home Office saying that my FLR-M has been approved.

Because of some business travel I have to do, I paid for "super priority." My biometrics appointment was this morning, and five hours later I received the email saying my application was successful.

Once again, I can't thank you all enough -- for all the advice and hand-holding during what is inevitably a stressful experience. And now, off to celebrate!
