ILR - Fee Cost 2023
« on: July 04, 2022, 11:36:43 AM »
Quick one here, but can anyone confirm the current cost for the ILR application with no dependents? I need to start boosting up my savings to cover the cost next year.

I found the below link, but I am not 100% sure. Is it 2,404 (application) + 19.20 (biometrics) = 2,423.20? is there any other cost to consider? Is prioroty worth it and what is the cost? I know the cost may increase yet again prior to my application in July 2023, but I wanted to get enough to cover the fee just now.

Yes, the current fee (as of April 2022) for ILR is £2404 (not including biometric enrolment fee, quoted as typically £19.20).

Super priority service for ILR SET(M) is, I believe, currently £800 for a next day decision. If you aren't applying for another year, I would wait to see what the standard processing times are like at that point, and decide then if the service is worth purchasing. If you are in a position where you will definitely need a decision fast (e.g. you must travel frequently for work on short notice), then you'll likely want to purchase priority.

Or if you just want to be done with the whole immigration thing as soon as humanly possible! We went with priority just for that reason, and I'm frugal by nature but it was worth every penny just to be done at that point!  ;D

Thank you both :) I will probably avoid the £800 fee if possible (cheapo me). I take it once the ILR is approved the citizenship can be done immediately? Is there any good posts about what that process is like?

What are the timelines currently for non-priority ILR?

As long as you're married to a UKC, you can apply as soon as you have your ILR BRP. If not you have to wait one year.
I think it's coming through quite quickly at the moment 3-4 months or so?
There's a bunch of folk at that stage right now so you'll have plenty of input if you ask questions.

So I'm trying to schedule my Biometrics for ILR (Set(M)) and in the Edinburgh office, it's showing fees of £132.00 (fixed) / £199.00 (flexible) for an appointment?!  I thought someone was saying £19?  Have I clicked the wrong option somewhere? Haven't booked yet, as having just spent £2404, not eager to drop that if I don't have to.

UKVI charge £19.20 for the enrollment of biometrics, which you will have already paid when you applied online for the visa. It should have been added to the visa fee of £2404... so it would have come to £2423.20, or if you added Super Priority, it would have been £3223.20.

Then you may have to pay UKVCAS to attend the actual appointment... UKVCAS offer a number of different appointment types, depending on what services of theirs you wish to use, there may be some free appointments available, but most people end up having to go for a £132 appointment (or more). If you want to add things like document scanning and document checking, it's about another £50 for each. Or if you book at an Enhanced centre, you can get an Enhanced appointment for around £80 or so which is essentially a free appointment which already includes document checking and scanning.

I've just checked the UKVCAS website FAQ, and it says that:

- Free appointments are released at 9am every day

- Chargeable appointments are released at midnight every day

So, if you check at 9am, you may be able to get a free appointment.

Talk about "burying the lead"! Criminal that you have to hunt through FAQs to discover that. Thanks for surfacing. I'll try for a few days.

Got a free appointment this morning, but it's nearly 4 weeks out (between Christmas and Hogmanay). Wife said £130 wasn't worth 2 weeks less waiting  :D

Sounds about right for a free appointment to be a month out.  They are few and far between though, so well done for grabbing one!

Hi all,

I hope people don't mind me tailgating this thread.

I'm back for my wife's ILR. Her 5 years is up next Tuesday (time flies!) with FLR expiring June 2023. We plan to apply mid March (I get my company bonus then and cant afford before that).

I see the super priority costs, including biometrics is £3223.20. I'm also reading about a 1am release of slots for super priority interviews. Am I right in saying we should prepare all the usual documentation (pdfs etc), and then do the application submission at 1am? And then at the end slots of appointments will be shown?

Thanks in advance,
Martin

Pretty much.

The Super Priority slots are not actually for the appointments themselves, they are just for purchasing the Super Priority service, which will then be added to the biometrics appointment that you book later.

The slots are actually released at midnight at the moment, not 1 am. It's midnight during the winter when we are on GMT (Oct to Mar), and 1 am during the summer when we are on BST (Mar to Oct)... because the UKVI computer system is set to GMT all year round.

So the process is:
- gather all your documents ready to submit
- complete the online application
- when you are ready to apply, log in just before midnight, and submit the application at midnight. If you see an option to add Super Priority for £800, then do so and complete the application submission
- If you do not see an option to add Super Priority, then log out and try again the next night. DO NOT submit the application if Super Priority is not offered, as it cannot be added later.
- Once you have submitted and paid for the visa and Super Priority, you will receive an email with a registration code for the UKVCAS website
- Register with the UKVCAS website and book your biometrics appointment (currently, free appointments are released at 9am, otherwise you may need to pay £130 or so for an appointment). You can also add extra services for a fee if you want, such as document scanning and checking.
- If you will be uploading your own documents, this should be done at least 48 hours before the appointment, so that they are transmitted through the system in time for the appointment
- If you have added document checking to the appointment, you just take the documents with you
- Once you have attended the appointment, you will receive an email with the visa decision. With Super Priority, you should get this by the end of the next working day, though most approval emails come through within about 5 hours of the appointment
- the new BRP will then be mailed to you

Thanks ksand24. That's super useful. I'll read through the rest of the ILR threads to get up to speed on any other differences since our last application.
