citizenship ceremony question
« on: January 08, 2023, 08:04:20 PM »
I'm just curious about citizenship timelines. I read Katoo's post on citizenship (congratulations!) and it seems like they have 6 months to attend the ceremony.
Pre-pandemic I thought it was 3 months. Does anyone know if/when it will change back to 3 months? Thanks!

My email from Lancashire council said 6 months.  However, my email from the Home Office said 3 months.

There's no reason to wait is there?  You can still travel on your American passport .  You will be  a UK citizen, tell the border guards to kiss your butt, they have to let you in unless you've been hanging out with ISIS.

**note:  Your mileage may vary telling the border guards to kiss your butt.  I've never been anywhere close to doing that because they've always been super nice at the border since I became a UKC.    Even last time when we were carrying a random Latvian teenager in the car.

I chose the first date available.  Next week!  Will apply for passport the day after ceremony.

I'd love to know the answer to this too - we have travel plans for March and would really rather attend the ceremony in April when we get back, otherwise I don't think my wife would get her passport in time.

If it's any help, the gov.uk website is still saying 6 months. No idea when that could change:
