'Proving' US tax filing
« on: July 15, 2023, 12:57:04 PM »
Question: I'm preparing to renounce, have requested a loss of nationality appointment at the US Embassy London. I am tax compliant and have filed yearly since 2016. Requirements for loss of nationality say I need to 'prove' that I'm compliant for the last 5 years. How do I do that? I send paper forms in by mail. I have copies, and for some years (maybe all) I've remembered to keep the postage receipt. There's nothing else I can do to prove it. Surely they can look.

What do you know about this? Thanks in advance.

Log in to the irs website - transcripts of your tax account are available - mine shows back to 2019.
