ILR questions as I prep my documents
« on: June 13, 2023, 09:34:20 AM »
Hi everyone! Back again for my ILR application, woo hoooo! A few questions about documents for this round.

1) I have two children now and I think that I need mail in their names to prove that they live with us, correct? They are both British citizens, so I can't remember if this applies to them. I had the first just after my last visa, so I've never had to do this portion before. They are too young to be in school, so I assume this would need to be from the GP. Do I just call the GP and ask that they send me a letter for each? I don't think we've received anything in the last three months with either of their names on it unfortunately.

2) I'm applying mid July for my visa, do I'm a bit unsure of the spacing for my mail. I was granted my last visa on December 30th, 2020. I was planning January 2021, June 2021, November 2021, April 2022, September 2022, February 2023; that leaves a 4 month gap between the last piece of mail and the time I'm applying (mid July). Do I need to change this spacing? Or should I just include mail from June as well since I won't have gotten anything by the time I apply.

3) We do not get mortgage statements in the mail, do we just need to ask the bank to send a copy of the most recent mortgage statement? EDIT: I found our last mortgage statement, it's from 2022 but the bank sends yearly statements only. Is this sufficient for proof of the mortgage or do I need one that's more recent? (I have council tax bill from March 2023 and the land registry document, as well).

Thank you all!

Yes, you need to provide the following for each child:
- their passport
- their birth certificate
- a letter dated in the last 3 months confirming their address.

The easiest way to get a letter is from their GP or their school (if they are in school) - the GP may charge for the letter though (I think around £15- £25 per letter, depending on the GP's prices), so if both kids are registered with the same GP, you may just be able to get just one letter confirming the addresses of both children.

Your spacing looks good, but you will need to include mail from June 2023 as well, to make sure you cover both the beginning and the end of the 2.5-year period.

The 4-month spacing at the end shouldn't be an issue, but if you want, you can add a note to say that you haven't received anything from July yet, so are including mail from June instead.

Yes, that's fine. A lot of people only get 1 mortgage statement per year, so you just need to provide the most recent one you have... it's only to show how much you pay per month in housing costs.

So, for the accommodation evidence you will need to provide:
Proof of Homeownership
- Land Registry document
Proof of Monthly Housing Costs
- most recent mortgage statement you have been issued
- latest council tax bill
