How much does your baby eat? MIne is a pig!
« on: January 21, 2005, 02:04:20 PM »
Chris is doing better after no longer being on oatmeal for the last week. Not sure if it was a bug that lasted a month or the oatmeal, will have to try oatmeal again to see if it was.

Anyway, he is eating like a PIGGY! He has 3-4, 6-8 ounce bottles from 7PM-5AM. He has breakfast and a bottle, lunch and bottle, dinner and a bottle and "snacks" in between. I amnot sure if this is his "making up" for being ill for a month or if he just has such a high metabolism that he needs this much food. I'd like to sleep through the night once, he's 7 months now and I am SOOOOO tired! Any ideas? I gave up on the doctors as they don't know which way is up.

It really depends with Aillidh.  She's cutting the rest of her molars, so in between teething, she eats a good deal.  When she's teething, we're lucky to get a full meal in her all day.  We just offer her snacks like pots of yogurt, jelly, bread sticks, Cheerios, etc. when her gums are feeling ropey.

He could be making up.  I notice that the fortnight after Aillidh's coming off an illness she really chows down.

Calvin will be 7 months old on this coming monday (the 24th) - he usually has 21-25oz of milk a day (it varies day to day); breakfast about 9:30-10am (some sort of baby cereal, fruit or yogurt), lunch is about 1pm (which usually is the equivalent of a small jar of baby food and then some sort of fruit or dessert). we just started giving him a small tea time meal (about 5pm), and so far thats been something like a small amount of baby food or fromage frais.

he could be making up for being sick, but i'm not sure if babies do that! ;o)  has he not slept thru the night yet?
i would keep asking your doctors/nurses about it if you want to know! or it could be a growth spurt?

William will be 7 mos this week!  On almost the identical schedule to Calvin (lunar) --
   24 - 28 oz formula day
   3 meals
        9:30 -- pot of cereal + 2 pot of fruit  (about 7oz of food/pot)
1:00 -- pot of cereal + 1 pot of fruit + 1 pot of veg
        5:00 -- pot of veg

Awake at 7:30am -- to bed at 7:30pm -- sleeps thru the night.

Maybe you should increase the amount of food during the day at the meals?  Sounds a bit like a growth spurt; but would start working towards decreasing night-time bottles to allow yourself to get some sleep.

Every baby is a bit different... figure out what is best for you little one and what works for you --- that is what is important!

I have spoke to the doctor about him not sleeping at night and was told many boys do not sleep well until after age 1. Yeah right!

I feed him solids until he no longer wants it. I tried giving him 4 ounce bottles back in November with no luck, I will try again!
