Super priority appointment tomorrow
« on: April 01, 2023, 09:13:25 AM »
So our appointment is tomorrow morning, down in Leeds (we'll be setting 5 alarms just in case!). We paid for document scanning just because I hate the scanning process and it was totally worth the extra cost. A few questions...

- is there any particular order in which we should have our paperwork? We currently have it in sections (jointly addressed correspondence; bank statements; payslips; etc), but do they prefer them to be organized any particular way?

- do we want to provide a table of contents and/or a cover letter?

- is there any kind of interview process, or do I go in, prove my identity, and just hand them the paperwork for them to scan? And do I stand/sit there while they scan it in front of me, or will they take it to another room and do it?

- how long should I expect to be at the service centre?

- I should get a decision later in the day, yeah? I think it said something like 5 hours? And it will be via email I presume?

I might have more questions but that covers it for now. Getting nervous lol I really hate this whole process.

What you've done for organisation sounds fine. You don't have to provide a table of contents or a cover letter but it's fine to do so if it makes you feel more comfortable or if you have anything extra to explain. It's not an interview.  It's not necessarily going to be the same day (so don't panic if yours is not) but hopefully it will be.
Best of luck!

Just been to Leeds for my appointment. I'll just give a little rundown for anyone interested. We arrived super early (we live 90 miles away so we allowed plenty of time) and prepared to wait until our 10am time slot, but I got called in at about 9:20. I had my fingerprints and photo taken, then she scanned all of my documentation. It took about 20 minutes in all, and we were back on the motorway by 10. I was pleasantly surprised. She said to allow 2 working days before I can expect the decision email, so Tuesday. Here's hoping!

Just an update that I got the decision email around noon today, and was approved  :)

So once my BRP comes it'll be citizenship application time. I can travel outside the UK while that's pending, correct?

As always thank you to the experts and others here who helped guide my wife and I through this stage of the visa maze. Fun times indeed!

Did you receive your new BRP ?
Also you will not be able to travel whilst your citizenship application is pending. There is no expedite process for naturalisation and citizen… just an FYI

That's not true - you CAN travel while your citizenship application is processing, because you will still hold a valid ILR and can use your passport and BRP to leave and re-enter the UK.
