ILR accommodation requirement - rent increase
« on: March 30, 2023, 08:51:34 AM »
Hello,

Not applying for ILR until next year but just trying to stay on top of things.

When we applied for FLR, we submitted our lease agreement. The original tenancy was for 6 months and then mentioned that it becomes a month to month contract after the six months. It also showed how much we pay in rent.

Recently our rent has been increased by £100 per month.

We didn't get a new lease. We were informed of the increase by phone and then received an email from someone at the company stating the new rent.

Would we need a new lease showing our new rent, or a letter from our landlord confirming the new rent, or just add a note when we apply for ILR mentioning the increase?

If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You don't need a new lease  (you can't provide what you were never given), but I would include:
- the original lease
and
- a letter from the landlord confirming the new rent amount, that you are still living there, and that the original lease has become a rolling month-to-month.
