ILR SET(M) - A Couple of Questions
« on: February 23, 2024, 03:30:56 PM »
Hi guys!

Thanks to all of the helpful posts on this forum, we are now in a position to apply for ILR for my wife  :) We are planning to submit our application today but had a quick question about bank statements.

We are applying via the £34,600 cash savings route - all of the guidance we can see suggests that the funds need to be held continuously for six months prior to the date of application; our latest bank statement runs up until 8th Feb. Therefore if we were to apply today, should the six month period cover 8th Aug 23 - 8th Feb 24, or would the six month period be 23rd Aug 23 - 8th Feb 24?

One other question - we have a six month old daughter (British citizen by birth). She is not registered with a nursery and when we asked our medical centre to write a letter of registration for her, they said they would be unable to, but have printed off her medical records (which state her name, address, DOB, date of registration etc.) - will this suffice, or should we write a cover letter to accompany this?

Thank you!  :)

The bank statements must cover a full 6 months, so if the latest bank statement ends on 8th Feb, then the statements MUST cover all the way back to 8th August.

Often, 7 months of bank statements will need to be included in order to make sure that every single day of the 6-month period is covered.

I'm not sure if the medical records will be sufficient, as the requirement is that you must provide a letter dated in the last 3 months, confirming her address. Do the medical records have a date on them to prove they were printed in the last 3 months?

Have you received anything at all in the post in the last 3 months that has your address on it, and her name included somewhere in the letter? i.e. any letters from the GP or hospital regarding appointments, vaccinations, follow-ups with a midwife... anything like that?

Thanks for getting back to me, ksand24 - that makes sense.

Re the medical records, it does have a date (and time) that it was printed, which was earlier this month, so technically I believe it meets all of the requirements, just not technically in letter form…? Unfortunately she’s at an awkward age where she’s had all of her jabs for a while and we haven’t had the need for any other medical appointments  ???
We also requested a letter from the “Find my NHS Number” service earlier this year as a back-up, which has her name, address and date on it as well, so hoping that between these two we might be okay?

I would use this letter in the first instance, as it meets all the requirements, while the medical records don't technically meet the requirements and should only be used as a backup.

I have just noticed that the application asks for both the country of birth and place of birth (as per the passport/travel document). In my wife's case, the country is listed as the place of birth in her passport, so we populated her country of birth for both answers - was this the wrong thing to have done? For her FLR(M) application, it looks like we populated the city and that is what is detailed on her current BRP.

Happy to write a cover letter explaining if necessary.

My wife had her ILR biometric appointment this morning and we received our "application successful" email around two hours ago. Thank you to all of you super supportive people on this forum - we couldn't have done it without you all!  :D

Congratulations!   It must be such a relief.   I apply in 2 months and 10 days - but who's counting! :)

Thank you! It really is - it's actually even more of a relief than we thought it would be. All of the very best of luck with your application - you are in safe hands here, and please do ask if you need help or advice with anything  :)
