A Texas style smoked brisket sandwich, with french fries and cole slaw, and a big glass of iced tea to wash it down with. (Yankees just do NOT make good BBQ!)

Peking Duck (I love it in Beijing  -  'special duck dish'- heaven.  Haven't been to China in a few years and I really miss it!)

Ok, so maybe someone can answer this one for me?

I am craving Oxo chicken bouillon - the kind made from the cubes.  I cannot find them in the USA. I've hit up at least a dozen different British import stores around the NE and although they have Oxo beef of Oxo veggie, none carry Oxo Chicken.  Is there some kind of import ban on British chicken products (using that term lightly here) in the USA that anyone's heard about? I know for a long time there was a prohibition on beef products (Mad Cow Disease, etc.) but I've never heard anything about chicken.

I do see them in the stores in Canada, and Montreal a solid one-day drive, so it might be that I have to wait until next summer and we head north on vacation to cross over the border to get some.

We have Knorr chicken bouillon cubes, but they are not the same. For cooking I use "Better than Bouillon" base.  But for sipping it's gotta be the Oxo. (Yes, available on Amazon through private sellers at obscenely high cost.)

Nan, for some reason I don't think a lot of the British Expat shops export Chicken Oxo cubes -  this one looks like it does -

Thanks.  I'm wincing at the price on it, though!

There is probably some import ban on chicken products. Like you can't get "real" haggis here (not that I'd want it) because of the sheep's lungs being a prohibited item.

I'll be going up to Canada in the not too distant future and they have it in the grocery stores there, so I'll embarrass myself by buying like a  shoebox full of it to hold me over until the next trip.  ;D

Cranberry ambrosia salad

Sounds really good!

I've heard that the cranberries this year are the best they've been in decades, partially because of the drought we're under in this part of the country. The downside to that is that they're going to be expensive, as the farmers are having to pay for fuel to keep the pumps running to flood the bogs so they can harvest the crop.  The reservoirs they usually have available for that water have dried up. :(
