Renewal of USA passport for adult

If anyone done this recently in consulate in London? Is it by mail only now? How long it took to get new one? Any info about recent experience much appreciated My US passport will expire next year on September. Looking to renew now since many countries (including EU) will not let entry with passport less than 6 month before expiration date which will be in the end of March 2025 for me. Its significant for me since I have extensive travel schedule.
