Electronic Documents
« on: October 15, 2024, 03:22:13 AM »
Hi all,

Is anyone aware if there is any official update on whether electronic bank statements and utility bills are acceptable for use in proving you meet the financial and cohabitation requirement in FLR(M) applications?

We exclusively used electronic documents for our fiancée visa and subsequent switch to the 2.5 year marriage visa back in 2021 and 2022 with no issue whatsoever, however our first FLR(M) is now coming up at the end of November and whilst researching the required documents on here, I'm seeing a lot of posts stating that everything categorically has to be physical paper documentation, which is really worrying us!

Does anyone have any up to date experience with this?

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry I don't have the most up-to-date experience with this. I've done a little digging and finally found the financial requirements guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/chapter-8-appendix-fm-family-members/appendix-fm-17-financial-requirement-accessible-version

"Bank statements must be on official bank stationery. Alternatively, electronic bank statements can also be accepted for all bank accounts (the account itself does not have to be exclusively online) as long as they are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page."

They don't have any documentation as thorough about proof of cohabitation, however the basic outline page states "things you pay for together". I would err toward original documents, always. https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/provide-information

Next step... citizenship! I've just been a bit lazy...
