Christmas Adverts on TV
« on: December 13, 2024, 02:06:04 PM »
You know, I actually find myself missing the annual UK Christmas adverts on the tv. I do eventually find them on YouTube, but it's not the same.  I think my favorite so far over the years is Mog's Christmas Calamity. (Having owned a number of cats , it rings true!)

Oh yes, I remember the one with the robins!  I've always liked that.   ;D

An aside, I put bird food out a couple of days ago and it hasn't been touched. When I looked carefully at the tree outside our balcony, where there used to be several different sets of birds nesting in the winter, it was empty.  We always have had many birds visit our balcony, but there are no tiny birds in sight so far this year. I can't imagine what's going on. We did see a lot of large (vulture-like) birds and mobs of crows several weeks ago, but the juncos, titmice, woodpeckers, and sparrows are nowhere to be seen.  It's very odd.

[Edit 12/14 - Nevermind. They all showed up for breakfast at about 20 after 9:00 this morning!]

I quite like to see what each company brings out for adverts. I think it's really fun!  I am enjoying Tesco's one this year.
Interestingly, the Christmas advert 'race' that we know it, started in anger in 2011.

Thanks for that, particularly the Scarborough news article.

I always like to see what all the big shops' Christmas telly adverts are like every year.  So disappointed with this year's crop! I can't think of a single one i actually like this year.  :-\\\\

All the big shops need to up their game for Christmas 2025.  We discussed this in my greyhound group and we all agreed the adverts were rubbish last year.
(so of course, that means we are right!)  ;)

One can hope.  By next Christmas we're REALLY going to need the distraction, I think!  ::)
