Be sure to link your passport to your eVisa
« on: November 14, 2024, 12:36:12 PM »
I set up my eVisa several months ago using my BRP number.  I just learned I need to link my passport to my eVisa so that when I travel internationally the airline can send my passport number and UK immigration can check my immigration status.

Maybe this was mentioned in the emails from UK immigration, but I missed it.

Here's a link to update your account details on the UKVI website, which allows you to upload a photo of your passport.

https://www.gov.uk/update-uk-visas-immigration-account-details/update-your-ukvi-account

The system kept saying it couldn't read my document, but there was an option to upload it and have them do a manual check.  I did that, and 3 days later I received an email saying my document was added to my account.

Here's a link to a Youtube video that has some additional information.

There is the option of sharing a code which I believe is valid for 90 days - so if you are travelling out of the country, I would advise looking into sharing the code where a quick check can be done to check your visa/identity etc.

Application Type : FLR(M)
Application Submitted online on: 19/08/2020
Postal or In-Person Application: Online
Biometrics Enrolled: 10/09/20 using IDV App
Acknowledgement Received: No
Additional Documents Requested on (if any): no
Decision Email: 18/12/2020
Decision Letter Received on: 18/12/2020
BRP Card Received on: 22/12/2020
Decision: APPROVED

I'm going to do that when I travel to the US in a few weeks.  I'm also going to take my expired BRP and the email saying the airlines have been instructed to accept a BRP through March 2025.

I flew from the US to the UK in November and I asked the British Airways check-in agent if she was aware of the new process.  She wasn't, but she did tell me she could see my residency status on her computer screen.

Hopefully the technology works, especially with ETA now in effect.

When I use this link it brings me to a page that shows my Name, Date of Birth, Photo and Identity Documents.  In the Identity Documents section there's a option to click on "Add a New Identity Document".  That's how I added my passport.

Here's a link from the gov.uk website that will hopefully get you to the right place to add your passport.

Hope this helps!

It says when I sign in :
We cannot show proof of your status

This may be because you need to finish linking your eVisa to your account.

If you have finished linking your eVisa to your account, you will be contacted with further information. Remember to check your email spam folder.

If you need further help

For further help, contact UK Visas and Immigration.

Finish and leave service

Then when I click the link that says :
Finish linking your  evisa  to your account

It brings me to :
“ Your form “ and an application to fill out ..

Is this right ???? I’m getting so nervous … I Leave in 2 weeks

Is anyone else having issues ???
