If allowed, could I get recommendations for a reasonably priced dual-taxation accountant, please? We're not wealthy expats, and the one I chatted with in Suffolk was out of my league. I'm in South Wales.

Our situation
1. I've been doing UK self-assessments for years now for my self-employment income & previously employed income. I zero it out in TaxAct based on the totalization agreement and pay into NI and UK taxes.
2. My husband makes several-month trips to the States to work as a self-employed contractor and pays US taxes on the income.
3. He also gets SSI payments in the US, which we declared as income to extend his spouse visa. We would like to remit that to the UK because my income isn't sustaining us but are concerned about tax implications.

My husband has to listen to me moan every year when doing our US taxes, but I'm even more concerned about HMRC. I'd appreciate recommendations!

Thank you!

Your spouse is naturally reporting his earnings to HMRC each year already. It is not clear from the question whether the nature of the engagement constitutes employment or, alternatively self-employment. It is unclear from the question why he might have elected to claim the remittance basis.

Thanks for replying! He has self employed. Hence, I'm looking for a tax accountant.
