Girl Scout Cookie Time!
« on: January 26, 2005, 11:30:44 AM »
Just a reminder that it's that time of year again!

I just ordered $73.50 worth through the girl who my mother ordered from.

Yikes!  :o

Well, this is what GreenEyes had to say last year about ordering:

They DO sell Girl Scout cookies in this country!!!!!!! The hard part is finding the Lone Scouts or the American communities where they are- I had corresponded with a couple last year regarding the cookies, but it appears that neither of the e-mail addresses I have this year :'(.

If someone very quickly goes to the GS website (cookie sales will be ending shortly!) and go to the international section, e-mail them!!!! They forward the message on to UK leaders (the two I talked to were in London and near the ACS-Cobham)!!!!!!!!!! I'm on a diet this year and refuse to be tempted (and trust me, after 15 years as a Girl Scout and 10 years as a leader/cookie mom), it doesn't take much to tempt me! :)

I'm a sucker for Girl Scout cookies.

As a former scout of eight years myself, I sold many in my time.  Back in those days, you went door to door, in the middle of winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was convinced it was some sort of sick strategy, so that people felt sorry for the girls out in the freezing cold, carting around cases of cookies!

I'm one of those people now who buys a dozen boxes a crack.  Once a girl scout, always a girl scout.

Here's the email addy for the international arm of the Girl Scouts:

overseas@girlscouts.org

I can't find a link to anyone actually over here but I didn't do a thorough search of their web site.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Here's the response I got.  :\\\'( Looks like no cookies, though I find it quite irritating that the first email suggested they could be had on the website and the 2nd, slightly abrupt one denied that....

Girl Scout cookies cannot be purchased over the website.  Girl Scout cookies are only available for sale on military installations for those with access to those facilities.  There is no cookie cupboard maintained and cookies are not mailed to customers

Jeez, that email was harsh!  Is that what they teach girls to be ('strong')?  Yikes.  Let's all email that lady asking about cookies!

Thank you for checking on that.

I always bought Thin Mints on ebay.com.  Yeah, it's in the States and all that, but I was a desperate pregnant lady.  ebay.com had a lot to offer last year.

Edited to add:  just checked ebay.com and there is a ton of cookies to be purchased on the 'pre sale' for ship in Feb.  Most only ship to the States but maybe some kind soul would put it into their Food Swap package to the UK?   :D  One idea, anyway.  There are also ebay.com GS cookies available for shipping to the US immediately, mostly Thin Mints.
