I grew up eating whole milk straight from the cow pretty much, strawberries with nata (whipped heavy cream) and tons of other things like pasta, fresh meats and lots of legumes and vegetables.  I never ever gained any weight eating that way.  We ate three balanced meals with maybe a few snacks along the way. 

I think you're very lucky!!! I also grew up eating "real" food. To this day (even after spending over 20 years in the US), I've never eaten at a McDonald's. I think if you don't develop a taste for it as a child, maybe you don't ever grow to like it. At least, that's what happened with me. However, I'm still overweight.  >:(  Eating real, healthy, tasty food can still make you fat.
