Hope you don't mind an old thread being revived, but just in case anyone is still interested in that British alarm code, you can set-up a callback with :
*55* hhmm #
where "hhmm" is the required time, using the 24-hour clock system. If you pause after *55* you will be prompted for the time, but you can just dial all in one go if you wish.
As with other services, you use the same basic code with varying * and # combinations to cancel or check, so:
#55# Cancel alarm call
*#55# Check time of alarm call.
The 55 service gives one call only. Most exchanges now also have an option to set-up a regular alarm call every day, or Monday - Friday, etc. (I won't bother to go into the full details unless anyone wants them.)
Here's a trivia quesrion for you regarding the speaking clock. Have any of you yet heard older Brits -- especially in London -- talk about "Calling Tim" to check the time?
