There are only 3 British Consulates that do Spouse Visas - Chicago, NY and Los Angeles.  You will not be able to do this in Houston - unless you do it by post whilst in the US.

I cannot stress it along with Lola enough - you need to take care of this NOW.  If you wait until May, you are terribly close to the 6 months you're even allowed to be in the UK as a visitor.  And if you leave for Turkey in March, there is the possibility you will NOT be let back in.  Do you want to risk that?

We've all spent time away from our UK significant others.  It's the cross you bear for being in an exceptional style relationship.

Good Kat -- you should be able to get an appointment within the next two weeks.  If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to PM me.   :)

I have been living with him since Dec 1st and am just now getting the confirmation from the registrar's offcie for the recognition of the marriage.  Why do you ask?

It's good to check on the off chance that something can be done under DP3/96.  Leaving no stone unturned as the saying goes...

But there's nothing that can be done there.   :(  Reading through the thread to date, I would suggest Peedal's commentary is the most appropriate.  Especially about the Turkey thing, which appears to be ill-planned all things considered...

Yes, you are right ill-planned is the way I have done all of this.  I will research the DP3/96 and see what they say..as I mentioned before, it was difficult at best registering the wedding in Mexico here and we are still waiting on confirmation , ie the document from the registrar's office, I was just not thinking at all.  As I said I was a fool in love and an offer to write a book came forward and i took it, and quit my job, got married in Mexico and came here.  Foolish I know, and now the dust has cleared and I am trying to make things right, but hopefully it will all work out.  K

No, I am a writer and a legal consulatant in the States, but have lived in Mexico for five years on a work visa there, writing and working from my computer.  I am not working now, but have a huge termination of project due in Mid May, the reason I am headed back to Texas.  My husband makes sufficient money here to support us, but I do get paid from time to time into my account in the states.  K

ooooo!  Didn't know that part!

If you've stilll got a residence there, it means you can use the British consulate in Mexico City  ;D  That would go to your advantage...
