Car Hire In Europe
« on: March 07, 2005, 04:26:52 PM »
Hi, guys. Question for you... does anyone know if one hires a car in one European country, say Spain, can that car be driven into another country, say Portugal? I assume so, but what about insurance - does driving the car in different countries change insurance requirements? Ta for any info. that anyone can offer up!

It's a long time since I've rented a car in Europe, but as far as I can recall it depends upon the company.   I think most of the larger chains will allow it, although it might increase the rental charge a little to cover their insurance.   (Keep in mind that on a rental car you are covered by the company's insurance, not your own.)
