Dances: Song Suggestions?
« on: April 22, 2005, 05:22:13 PM »
Greetings all!

I'm getting married in four weeks, and am still trying to figure out the father-daughter dance song.  I'm thinking of either "Teach Your Children Well" by Crosby Steels & Nash or "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" by Rod Stewart.  Any other ideas?  I don't want overly sappy--I've always been the "son" my father never had (6 daughters, I was the tom-boy that he taught all the car and sports things to).

Also...any suggestions for Groom and MOB dances?  They get on very well, and both of his folks are passed away, so there won't be any other parent dances.

Thanks for your ideas!!

Frances

We did "In My Life" by the Beatles for the grandfather/granddaughter dance.  The mom/son and father/daughter dances were combined and we did Van Morrison's "Days Like This".

Just please don't use 'Butterfly Kisses'.

I am a sentimental schmaltz, but by god I hated that song.

What about that newish one by Paul Simon?  It's called "Father & Daughter" from (and don't judge) The Wild Thornberrys Movie.  It's very sweet, I think.

I think you're absolutely right; that is a lovely song (all sarcasm aside!).
