just one?
« on: March 12, 2005, 08:26:07 AM »

we've got one girl  ...DH and I have discussed having more although we've left it to fate really. Most of my daughter's friends in reception has siblings so she's been asking about a sister. anyone else on the forum just has one child??
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Hubby and I waited 8 years 6 months and 4 days until our second was born. Sammy was to be an only child, then fate had it way.

I've got one boy (17 mos) and don't really have a plan for another.  It's getting difficult now that a lot of my friends are working on their second and starting to bug me about it.  But, I didn't succumb to the nagging about getting married or having the first one, so I think I'll muddle through.

I have just one (11 mnths) and it will be staying that way.  When I was pregnant I thought I would lke to have another, but I can't imagine going through all this again, plus the DH only wants one.  I'm 41 so I think having only 1 is a good thing.

I have just one, but he's an 8 year old now. I think if I had stayed married I would have had at least one more. He has always been more reserved and shy and I think part of that comes from not having many kids to interact with when he was younger. But he also talked very young, started at 10 months, was using small sentences by a year, and hasn't stopped talking since...lol. I credit part of that to being a single mom, I talked to him like an adult sometimes without even realising it. He is a great kid, I think as with anything though, there are pluses and minuses to being an only child.

I have just one girl-- she is 15 so I don't plan on anymore. She went through a phase of wanting a sister; however a few visits to friends with siblings taught her they arent so glamorous  :D

I am an only child and we plan on having more than one.  I can say though that so much of not raising odd only children comes from socializing them.  I had a cousin two years older than I and I basically got to fight and play with her so it was like having a sister only I did not have to share my toys when I went home.  ;D
