moving your pets back to the US

What do you need, as far as paperwork and such, to bring your pets back with you when you move back to the US? I brought my dog over on the pet passport. Would she need anything else to go back?
Home is where your heart is, mine is now in Cheshire.

You should check with the individual state in which you would be moving to (or POE), but basically a current rabies shot and a flight readiness certificate from the vet no sooner than 10 days before departure.

SOOOO much easier than when you brought your dog over here...and you can even reuse the kennel! lol

Hi Kelli,

When we came back, I spoke with my vet in the UK about what we needed to do for my cat.  She was enormously helpful.

GrnEyes is right that the requirement vary state to state and that the certificate needs to be within ten days of flying.  I flew to the US with my cat, so don't know if there are different requirements for dogs.

My vet had gave me the telephone number of the US Dept. of Health, which I called and was actually very helpful.  Perhaps if you spoke to your vet in plenty of time, he/she will be able to answer your questions well in advance.

Good luck.
