Err umm may I...
« on: August 07, 2003, 09:27:24 PM »
May I join your Expat forum?
I'm an American southern belle NOT living in the UK ...instead it's Malaysia (KL).
We don't have very good forums, that's why I came here.
You all seem sooo firendly!
The opposite applies to KL and Singapore forums...seem to either be boring or have to many intentionaly cruel posting towards expats, women, races etc...or they just bad mouth one anothers countries to start trouble.
Getting lonely over here :'(
Would be nice to talk to people from back home or UK!
I have one friend in London and have friends in that town...whats the name?...hmmm....anyway it's close to where "Sting" has a house.
Little about me?
I'm 35 ,fem with 1 son, married to German for 5 yrs. We transfered from South Carolina to Cincinnati and then to KL, but I'm originally from Memphis.-yeah home of Elvis and the best dang BBQ anywhere!
We've been here since Jan. and adjusted just fine.
But, I do miss some things you can only get at home...Tylenol (can't get it here),mexican food,TJMaxx! ,smiles from strangers and people who actually obey the road rules!-(it's scary here)
Most of all I miss my family and friends. But hopefully friends can be found right here!

Malaysia...UK heck...who cares. ;D

Seems like with the travelling you've been doing you might wind up in the UK at some point.

So what's living in KL like?  Talk about a big change and culture shock.  What are the people like?

Lived in Korea myself for two years which was quite interesting and I would probably even do it again.

Anyway I will cease blathering on and just say welcome. :)

Welcome to UK Yankee Kiki.  I bet some of your stories will mirror those of use who have managed to make it to the UK.  But then again its always interesting to meet new people who will broaden our horizons even more.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
Moving here was a smooth transition. We've travelled quite a bit in SE asia ...so i knew what to expect. We almost ended up in Bangladesh! Really cheap to live here and lots to do. How far does the dollar stretch in the UK?
I love the heat, humidity and being surrounded by water! Hubby major scuba diver. Mix of people here chinese,indian,japanese,westeners...the one's i've met were pretty friendly.
The crime prob. here is like anywhere...purse and cell phone theives are really high!  Cheers!

HI Kiki...WELCOME to UKY!
How long are planning to be in Malaysia?  We have a friend that just moved there last year... its amazing how cheap everything is.   For what we pay for a modest house in the Uk, you can afford a mansion there!   Good Luck!

Hello Kiki, sorry I have not come to greet you sooner...

It is good to have you join us...  UKY has a lot of good people here with many different views... it will be nice to have even broader views from other countries and circumstances.

Welcome!

Hi Kiki and welcome!  Glad you found us and hope to see you post often!!

Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand,
wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
