Drowning in drool
« on: April 18, 2005, 07:08:05 PM »
Jack is ten months old and he constantly has to go around in a bib because his drools pours out like a faucet! I hate seeing babies with bibs around their neck constantly but what can I do? He soaks is clothes in 5 min otherwise.
He has all 8 front teeth in now. When does this constant drooling stop? I dont recall it being so bad with the other three. Also Jack has a terrible teething rash under his chin. I dont know what to do but it looks so sore. Why do I feel like a first time mom? ???

Poor kid - poor mom!  Have his molars come in yet?  My son was a human faucet while they were working their way in.

It may sound weird, but vegetable shortenining (i.e. Crisco) works great for rashes on the face.  It blends in well and you don't have to worry about them ingesting it.  We put a little on before naps & bedtime and it really helps clear stuff up.

My seven year old son, Ashton was a constant drooler.  I had to invested in so many rubber backed bibs or change his shirt 20 times a day.  I can tell you Ricki, Ashton no longer needs a bib ;)  I hope your little Jack is doing well.  I used balmex on any of Ashton rashes and they would be gone so quickly.

William, my firstborn was like that. He drooled constantly. I never noticed his teething as much as I notice Xan's. Maybe it is because Dry mouth teething hurts more, but drooling just looks unpleasant, and keeps you in bibs for a year, at least.

Sadly, yep... It was a year. I did a lot of tye-dying of t-shirts that year, as some of the drool trends to leave a stain after a while. It extended the lives of the t-shirts quite well.  :)

If only we can harness drool and sell it to men in china as a hair tonic .... :-X

I have been losing more shirts at the clinic from teething baby goo :P

Use it to your advantage!  Wear stuff you don't like any more and... ta da!... now you have to go out and buy new ones!  ;)
