Love it!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Me either! No way could I give up on sweets and snacks! If I tried (and I have), I'd end up binging big time (and, believe me, I have!). Everything in moderation is my new motto. But I guess that's where the Sometimes comes in, right?

I only skimmed most of the article, but I thought they said sweets on 'S' days.  So it's not giving them up totally.

This looks like a reasonable weight loss method. Is anyone here actually doing it?

I couldn't do it -- I'd just binge on Saturday and Sunday!

My husband and I did something similar to this a few years ago and it worked well for us.  We didn't restrict treats to weekends, though that's when they'd most often appear.

The first month or so was rather intensive in calories/fat counting (with the help of a database), but after the first month I had a pretty firm grasp of total calories and fat in the meals I was preparing and no longer had to count.

Our weight loss was probably slower than most of the 'intense' diets, but I felt that this was a healthier way to go about it and may lead to a more healthy set of eating habits --- that is until baby came along.   ::)

Yeah, if you read the article, he means no sweets/snacks/seconds during the week but OK on the weekends. He also says not to skimp on meals during the week (i.e. fill your plate). He implies that fruit as a snack is OK but encourages you to try not snacking. What he found was that after 3 weeks (which is the hardest part of any diet) snacking and binging were no longer appealing.

What also made it work for him is that he does a good round of exercise 5 days a week.

I like his sense of humor.
