Photograhper for registry office wedding?
« on: March 21, 2005, 07:35:57 PM »
We are having our bigger reception in the states, but really want pictures of our actual wedding day in the US.  My dream is to have a registry office wedding and then prance around London for a bit before going to dinner.  We want somone to take pictures of the registry office and the prancing around London for a couple of hours.  Anyone use a photographer for this or have any suggestions?

We had a photographer at our registry office wedding. We had the formal attire and bridal party. Well a brides maid and best man anyway. The photographer took pics at the service and at both our receptions.

After we gave notice for our registry wedding, we received a packet in the mail from the registrar, which included information about the ceremony, a form for us to fill out, and lots of advertisements from wedding suppliers, including photographers.

We were very happy with ours - he came to our registry office wedding, took "getting ready" photos at the hotel that morning, and scouted out a park to do some shots immediately after. He also did our UK reception. Feel free to look at our pictures:

www.my-studio.co.uk - you'll have to explore around a bit, but in the "gallery" section, ours was Anne & James - and our good friends are Glenn & Su. His name is Gary Allen and when we used him at the end of Sept. he actually did the shoot for free (though we paid him for his travel from the Cambridge area where he lives to Bath where we were married) as he was just starting his wedding business. Not sure if he's still doing that, and he's probably pissed that we haven't bought any pictures (we haven't had any "spare" cash - but we're going to buy some next month! YAY!) but it might be worth emailing him and dropping our name (Anne & Jamie Ronan) and fishing around to see if he's got any "deals.")

OH NO! That serves me right for not ordering anything from him - I haven't been in touch and now he's locked us out of the website! LOL. I've just emailed him to ask for access (and to tell him that he'll have an order next month without fail!) When I've got it, I'll pm you the password, Ricki (and Larissa, I'll send it to you too.)

Anyone else who wants to take a look, just pm me and I'll tell you how to get in - that is as soon as I know how!  ;)

We got married in Edinburgh last week and walked from the India building up the cobbled streets to the Castle and the Witchery for photos and our supper.  We didnt' have a photographer, we had two friends who snapped tons of photos for us- and they came out great!  We also had tons of Japanese, American, and South American tourists taking photos as well!  It was the best day of my life.

To anyone in the Dorset/Devon/Hampshire area, I have been working on doing Photography as well  :)

I also do the make up for it, and did Anne's make up on her Wedding Day :)   For anyone interested, just  pm me, and I can show you samples of my work.  My official website is still work in progress,, but I have one sample gallery up from a beautiful wedding I got to be part of in October.  I am still in the 'working on my portfolio' stage, so I am not charging an arm and a leg. Even less if I can use your photos on my website ;)

I am happy to talk to anyone to tell you how great she was!  :D

Anne-your pictures are beautiful!!  It took me forever to get back here and look at them, but it was so worth it.  I really liked your flowers :)

Ah, thanks, Larissa!  :)

I have to tell you that those flowers were such a great part of my day. I got up early and had breakfast with our witnesses (hubs slept  ::) ) and then walked down the street from our hotel to a little local florist that I liked the look of. I brought a length of ribbon that matched my dress, picked out the core flowers for the bouquet and told the woman there that it was for my wedding and she did the rest - no pre-ordering, no crazy bridal prices, and it turned out SO great!!

I was a little nervous about leaving so much to the last minute, but it turned out better than I could ever have imagined!!!
