Supporting Docs Needed For Work Permit Entry Clearance?
« on: April 20, 2005, 11:33:56 PM »
Hi...

I will be coming to the UK on a 2 year work permit in a few weeks.  I have an appointment with the british consulate in NYC tomorrow to get entry clearance and to make a long story short, I will receive my work permit via Fedex only a few hours before my appointment (don't ask!).  I'm filling out a fastrack application online, but I cannot pay for/complete the application until I get the work permit number tomorrow and therefore, do not know if I need add'l "supporting documents".  FYI:  The system doesn't tell you what docs you need until you complete the app.  Obviously, would be helpful to know this now....does anyone have any idea about what supporting docs are needed when you bring in your application?

From what I've read online and from the application questions, I'm guessing that I will need 2-3 passport photos, the actual Work Permit letter, Offer Letter from my company showing job/salary, bank statement, and passport.  Anything else?

Thanks for any and all help!!!

This is copied directly from the email sent to me after my application was sent online:

The following supporting documents are required:

* completed application form VAF1
* your current passport
* your old passport or a copy of it
* two recent passport photographs (not more than six months old)
* Immigration status (Original not copy):e.g. Permanent residence card, Valid I-94 H1-B - L-1 - B-1 I-20 (Signed on reverse side) IAP-66 Employment authorisation card with advance parole document
* evidence of funds available to you, for example recent bank statements covering at least the last three months
* either a letter confirming your period of leave from your employer together with salary slips for the last three months; or a certificate confirming you have continuing studies; or if you are self employed, evidence of your business for example company bank statements, company registration certificate (if applicable), etc.
* a valid UK work permit issued by Work Permits UK or for HSMP your valid approval letter

i have no clue about the immigration status...if you have any clues, let me know!
