Have question about the legal age in Scotland. Most of the USA legal age is 18-21. Been figthing to have 16 yr old daughter allowed to move with me overseas....USA court system says due to loss of jusridication (outside the continental USA) it would be best if she stays with dad. She DOES NOT want this. I have been on here several times in past and received good info. . If she is of "legal age" when she arrives in Scotland, then I may not need to have a 'safety rope" the courts are so worried about(as a minor in USA) And my divorce decree can be modified so he will have to pay child support. Its not about the money, mainly about his refusal to do right thing for her. He will not sign any paper to be notorized saying she is with me by his consent, something I need to have. Several times over last 3 years he verbally said she could go, then changed mind. My daughter has begged and pleaded and stated her reasons court lawyer to allow her to go with me. Have been on several Scottish sites looking for their determination of legal age. This may be ONLY way issue can be resolved and we can get on with our lives....Dad has, he s remarrying next month to lady he not only has known briefly but has major conflict with our daughter. When daughter asked if they could attend either family counseling with therapist or priest, she was told its not needed as it won t help. From both of them. Lady also sent me email saying if Dad feels daughter needs coporal punishment she will stand behind him as it is his right? I f I must stay here till she is 18 I will. My BF and I will put off our marriage for another 2 years(been put off 2 already)
Want to take this opportunity to say I enjoy this web site as does my daughter. She has learned alot from reading the forum(to see how it is over there)
Thanks ya'll Andrea
