Definitely continue with the application if it' a job that look more interesting to you than your current job!! There is so much more to life than a job, so whichever would have higher satisfaction is the one to go for!!!
I am a weirdo in that I am actually going to get MORE from maternity allowance than I did from my most recent job! It's because right at the beginning of my 'qualifying' period, I was on a very high wage. Then i didn't work for four months. Then I started a job at 5 weeks pregnant that was very part-time, very low wage. Because of the way they calculate MA, I can use my previous high earnings and get maximum MA, instead of using my lower wage time and get less than the max MA. With MA you get up to the 145 figure per week or 90% of earning, whichever is lower, or that was my reading of the rules when I applied!!! But I'm really dumb with money (yay job at HMRC for when I return from 'maternity leave'. Watch out taxpayers!!!
