Almost 2 Year Anniv - Time to Apply for ILR - What's Next?
« on: June 03, 2005, 12:54:22 PM »
Hi all,

Keith and I are coming up on our two year wedding anniversary (Sept 12) which also means that I can apply for my Indefinate Leave to Remain (that's correct, yes?).  Can anyone give me any tips on how to do this?  Where do I get my application and do I go to the Home Office in Croydon again for submission?

Thanks for any tips!

-Sandy
Life should NOT be a journey to the
grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand,
wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Hiya, i have just sent off my ilr visa application recently and am waiting for them to decide
heres a link for the forms i believe i paid £335 (postal order) for mine.

http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/application_form.Maincontent.0086.file.tmp/SET_M%20Form.pdf

i think it is mainly what you have sent in previously, birth certificates, passports, bank/wage statements, marriage certificate and utiltie bills etc..
theres a list on the form that you can double check with
oh and you need 2 passport pics each also

good luck, one last thing if you go in person i believe the fee is £500

Thanks 9iron! Do you know how soon before my wedding anniversary that I'm allowed to go in and apply for the visa?  I will have to pay the extra and obtain it in person.  Can I go as early as a couple of weeks beforehand?  I have to get my contract at work changed to no end date but can't do so until I have my visa in-hand.

Thanks!

Sandy

You can't apply any sooner than 4 weeks before the expiry of your FLR.

So if I go to Croydon to do this in person, I can still do it four weeks before the expiration...that's not just for applications by post?  If so, will they then give me my new visa the day I'm there (as previously)?

Thanks!! :)

Doesn't matter how you apply - if they receive your application any sooner than 4 weeks before your FLR expiry, they'll refuse it and you'll have to apply again.

If you have everything with you in person, you should walk out with ILR in your passport.

Be aware that you need to make an appointment in order to go in person.
