McDonalds helps the IRA?

I ask as I asked DH why we do not go to McDonalds, not that this is my number one choice.  He said as they fund the IRA. I had not know this or heard about this before so I am wondering if this is common knowledge or a rumor.

I think it was a rumour but don't know if there's any truth in it.
